Musically, I think of myself as a songwriter first — guitar in hand for my own songs, bass in hand for pretty much everything else. I love holding down the low end; it’s like being at the crossroads of rhythm and harmony. I spent years anchoring the original funk band Stymie & the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra, and these days I play bass in Sweet Thing, digging deep into women-led hits from the ’80s — Chaka Khan, the Pointer Sisters, that whole era.
I also lead a bit of a double life as White Francis, frontman of Debased: A Pixies Tribute, a role I’ve held for more than ten years. On occasion, I’ll also turn up singing or playing various instruments in the twin Prince and David Bowie bands, Controversy and Queen Bitch. That’s always a good time.
Though I’ve been writing songs for years, I only recently started actually releasing them. Love Completely came out in 2025, With All the Love We Need followed in summer 2026 (you can listen to both below), and a third EP is underway. With all of these activities, I’m constantly reminded that the same thing that makes a song work makes any piece of writing work: paying close attention while you make it.
